Chapter 27

I waited until the bats were close, then focused power into my fingertips and clapped my hands together as hard as I could. A moment later, the bats hanging in the air burst open in mid-flight, blood spraying from their bodies as they dropped like stones. “Phew.” At the same time as that small exhale, hot blood gushed from my nose. I’d pushed my ability beyond the range that protected my body, so I’d been hit by my own power. I’d expected some kind of backlash, but it was stronger than I thought.
