“It is a pleasure to meet you,” Johanna murmured. “I am Johanna Lucerne.” The Duke gave a stern nod in response. The others offered cursory acknowledgments, but the reactions from Leonid’s sisters were polar opposites. “It’s so wonderful to meet you, Johanna!” Kiara exclaimed, her eyes sparkling. “I’m Kiara, the youngest of the family. Oh, I’ll just call you by your first name, if that’s all right? And please, feel free to do the same with me!” Her gaze was alight with either genuine warmth or intense curiosity; Johanna could not tell which. She seemed much like the friend she had made at the publishing house.
