Chapter 24

Jisen was still weak, a slight fever running through her whole body. Every inch of her body ached. Going about her daily routine indoors was manageable, but going out was out of the question. It was fortunate she had already decided to rest today. Susan brought over well-simmered, easy-to-swallow soup and made sure Jisen ate. Jisen swallowed the food past her stinging throat while Susan massaged her hands and feet. “Susan, I know your hands aren’t medicine, but I feel like my body is recovering. Could I actually have fallen ill? Why does my body hurt so much when the Count didn’t even hit me?”
