As was the case every year, Princess Christie was Duke Spear’s only dance partner at this banquet. After greeting the princess politely and asking her for a dance, Dieren left the dance floor as soon as the music ended. Still, it was quite a source of pride for her. I’m the only one in this empire who has danced with Duke Spear. Since she was growing taller by the day, in a few years she would look respectable standing by his side. And what did the age gap matter anyway? She had heard that some nobles took young wives the age of their own daughters. There was no reason it couldn’t happen between her and the Duke.
